LiveAddress for Lists User Guide

Quick Start

So, you've processed your list, downloaded the file and you just want to get to work on it without having to deal with too much extra data. No problem. In that case, take a look at the files we provided with the download. Open the one that's called simple-mailable. This file includes the addresses that were found to be real and deliverable and does not include any address duplicates. You can also get a good idea for which addresses were duplicates and which could not be verified by checking out the files called simple-duplicates and simple-rejected.

The file called everything contains each address from your original file, with each input column unchanged, as well as our output and diagnostic columns. This is usually more data than most of our customers want to deal with but we provide it as a courtesy for brave souls.

You can find definitions for each column from each file we provide in the field definition guide.

(By the way, if you are using a spreadsheet application like Excel, it might be helpful to SORT and then work with the results. You can always sort by the Sequence column when finished to get things back to the original order)

Included Files

We now include several output files, each one a different representation of the list you submitted.

LiveAddress for Lists

Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) is a certification process from the United States Postal Service that evaluates the quality of address matching software. Our CASS service is certified by the USPS. This means that it has passed the rigorous testing standards set for address matching and verification software.

Our LiveAddress for Lists service will standardize addresses according to the USPS standards, verify deliverability and then assign the verified ZIP + 4 Codes.

Utilizing Delivery Point Validation (DPV) our system compares the addresses in your address list with an updated database of deliverable addresses from the USPS, and then indicates whether the address is one that can actually receive mail. It also can be used to screen private mail box addresses from your list.

Processing your address list with our LiveAddress for Lists service, may make you eligible for postage discounts from the United States Postal Service. In order to qualify for these discounts, you may also need to prepare your mailing by designing the mail piece correctly and sorting it per the USPS standards. The CASS Summary Report 3553 is required for mailings when claiming automation rates.

In order to give you the ability to compare the information submitted with the information returned, our service appends the standardized fields to your address list. The default descriptions and values (where appropriate) of the fields returned by our service are included in this readme file.

CASS Summary Report – PS Form 3553

LiveAddress for Lists also creates a CASS Form 3553. You will need this form if you are preparing a mailing for which you would like to receive an automation discount. The CASS certification is valid for 90 days from the date the list was certified.

NOTE: Changing the provided data in your address list after processing it on CASS Software will void the CASS Summary Report PS Form 3553.

How to find the CASS Form 3553:

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Click “Download” next to the list you are interested in.
  3. At the top of the new window that opens, you will see a link that says “Download Free CASS Summary Report”.
